Welcome to the Pub Dates newsletter! We’re so glad you’re joining us here.
This newsletter will be released as a companion to each podcast episode, and we’ll use it to share the visual elements of our discussion — from mood boards to design sketches, from photos to secret giveaways just for subscribers, there’ll be plenty to find in each issue.
In our first episode, we talked about who we are, how we met, and how the podcast came to be. We also promised you pictures, and we are nothing, if not women of our word. So…
That’s right, it’s tiny Amie, full speed ahead in her tiny boat, in that giant life vest we mentioned. We also talked about how Amie took her first steps on a boat — here she is shortly after that moment, delighted with her life on the water.
Amie’s mum also supplied a picture of her during her first sea voyage at six weeks old, but she is wearing nothing but socks, so it has been censored.
We also mentioned Kate’s origin story as a fashionable young thing, and her mother has come good with photographic evidence! Behold Kate at the age of six, showing off her favourite fancy dress — despite it being several sizes too small, she refused to be parted from it.
And let us pause for a moment to admire this next shot — Kate has no memory of stealing her mom’s fancy nightie for this particular occasion, but her mother tells us she was working on her glamour game from an early age.
There you go, promise kept — perhaps one of these days you’ll be catching an early glimpse of our covers in this newsletter, or our first pages…
Before we go this time, we also said this episode that we were going to ask you about our pitches, and we’d love to know what you think. Here they are again!
The Isles of the Gods: A spoiled prince and a cranky sailor girl, caught up in a war between the gods.
Nightbirds: A crew of girls who can bestow magic on you with a kiss, set in a Gatsby-style world.
Was there anything we discussed in the episode that didn’t make it into the pitches that you absolutely loved? Or is there a part of the pitch you’re intrigued by? You can click this button to let us know what you think, and we’d love to hear!
That’s it for this week — next episode, we’ll be talking about where ideas come from, and where these ideas came from. We’d love to see you there — make sure you subscribe!
Guys, basically I just need both books STAT!! *GIMME HANDS*
Also, you both were absolutely adorable as wee babies!! 😍🥰😻
Late to the pitch party but loving this podcast so far. Pitches ARE the worst! I'm a bookseller and a writer, and sometimes I find I can pitch a book I like so much easier than pitching a story of my own.
Also, you were both so adorable!
