Welcome to the Pub Dates newsletter! We’re so glad you’re here.
This newsletter is released as a companion to each podcast episode, and we use it to share the visual elements of our discussion — from mood boards to design sketches, from photos to secret giveaways just for subscribers.
In episode fourteen, we interviewed Amie’s editor, Melanie Nolan. This episode makes a fantastic companion piece to the interview with Kate’s editor, Stacey Barney — you can hear the differences in the ways the two books are launched internally, one from an author familiar to the team, and the other from a debut.
We also shared the exciting news — The Isles of the Gods is now available for preorder! You can find it in the US by clicking right here, and in the UK it’s currently available at Waterstones, with Bookshop to follow soon. In Australia you can preorder the ebook right now, and your favourite retailer has a link on the way.
While we’re on the topic, you can also preorder Nightbirds right here!
Now, you’ll remember that in the icebreaker we debated whether we’d rather speak many languages fluently, or be able to talk to animals — so here are our beloved animals. Whom we suspect would simply ask us for snacks, if they could talk to us directly.
Jack, who has fallen asleep beside Amie’s desk, and is now so cute that she has to keep working, because moving might disturb his precious sleep. (Have we uncovered the real secret behind her legendary productivity?)
And here is noble Galahad, doing something called roaching. Is he cooling his belly? Is he preparing to do water ballet? It's a mystery. It is a very inelegant pose for a very elegant dog, but one Kate often finds him doing behind her while she’s writing.
We thought you might like to be able to picture Mel while she talks to Amie, so we went hunting for a picture of her — and found one where she’s proudly holding up Gemina, one of Amie’s earlier publications. Now you know what Mel looks like!
And finally, here’s the book that Melanie recommended during her interview with Amie — you can click right here to preorder Friday I’m In Love by Camryn Garrett.
That’s it for this episode — we’ll see you next time, when we’re going to be celebrating National Teachers Month!
Loved this episode—I laughed out loud when I heard that the 'Illuminae' book broke the formatting program. Thanks for taking us behind the scenes (and for sharing the sweet and inelegant antics of your dogs!)
