Welcome to the Pub Dates newsletter! We’re so glad you’re here.
This newsletter is released as a companion to each podcast episode, and we use it to share the visual elements of our discussion — from mood boards to design sketches, from photos to secret giveaways just for subscribers.
In episode twenty-five, we talked all about writing romance — creating chemistry and clashes, plus why suspenders (in any form — if you know, you know!) are hot.
Let’s start off with this, just in case we left you in the mood for some romance: here’s The 200 Best Romantic Comedies of All Time, per viewer ratings at Rotten Tomatoes. That should keep you busy for a while!
We also thought we’d share the text from a couple of the scenes we discussed when talking about chemistry — here’s one from The Isles of the Gods, followed by one from Nightbirds.
Swoon, yes? Yes. Now, onward! It’s been a busy week at Pub Dates HQ! Kate got some very exciting mail…
Now remember, if you’re planning on ordering your very own copy of Isles, because you want to be as happy as Kate, Amie’s preorder offer is open now! You can claim a set of gorgeous art prints, plus a signed bookplate, and a digital pack that includes an online, spoilery Q&A with Amie. Click here to register your receipt.
Amie also got to reveal the special edition of The Isles of the Gods coming from Fabled Co.
If you’re interested in grabbing a copy, you can click here, and use the code AmiesGods for 10% off. And then you can claim the preorder offer as well!
While Amie’s gearing up for the release of The Isles of the Gods, Kate’s been doing the rounds at bookshops — one of our favourite moments was this gorgeous Nightbirds display! Which she matches, of course, because Kate is nothing if not fashion personified. Yes, she did make that dress. (Your humble newsletter correspondent, Amie, was confident enough to type that sentence without checking — but of course, turns out it’s true.)
And here’s an extremely excited Kate heading into the ABC studios for her very first live radio interview! (For our overseas listeners, think BBC or NPR — it’s a big deal!)
We also want to remind you about Kate’s amazing Show Us Your Nightbirds giveaway — post a picture of your book anywhere with the #showusyournightbirds hashtag, and you can win one of three prize packs. Open internationally!
And finally before we go, just in case you’re after some more podcasty goodness, we thought we’d share a few recent episodes you might like. Over on The Exploress, Kate has interviews with Amie, and with author Lyssa Mia Smith. And on April 17th, Amie Kaufman on Writing is starting back up again for season four! You heard it here first.
That’s it for this week — we’ll be back next episode! In the meantime, don’t forget you can leave a review for Nightbirds anywhere you like to buy books, and you can register for the Isles of the Gods preorder to claim your swag.
