Welcome to the Pub Dates newsletter! We’re so glad you’re here.
This newsletter is released as a companion to each podcast episode, and we use it to share the visual elements of our discussion — from mood boards to design sketches, from photos to secret giveaways just for subscribers.
In episode six, we had a very special guest — Kate’s editor, Stacey Barney!
Stacey taught us all about in-house launch, when new books are introduced to the teams from publicity, sales, marketing and beyond who’ll be helping set them loose upon an unsuspecting public.
We promised some extras, and you know we always deliver. First up, here’s the video Kate made for launch — this was played to attendees, to give them a taste of what Kate and her book are like… (Spoiler alert: the famous juggling skills come into play… sort of.) Just click on the video image below, and you’ll head straight to it.
What’s your favourite part of Kate’s video? For me (Amie here!) it’s always going to be the lemon-juggling…
We also chatted about our research trip to the Polly Woodside, so in this issue we’re including a couple of pictures we took on the day.
Look at these happy faces, standing up near the bow and readying themselves for an imaginary voyage or two! (It’s actually very cold, so they’re readying themselves to go get some hot chocolate.)
Remember how we mentioned blocks (pulleys) the size of your head, and endless lines (ropes) as thick as your forearm? Behold!
And that’s it for this episode! We’ll see you next time — and if there are any behind the scenes peeks you’d love to take as we count down to publication, don’t forget to leave a comment and let us know!
As you mentioned in this episode, I was just (re-)listening to the Obsidio audiobook, and I too noticed Kate's name pop up there!
Thanks for all the informative content, ladies. Super enjoyable.
I laughed my way through so much of this episode. Lordy, who'd be a cabin boy?!! The chat with Stacey was completely fascinating, and I'm officially now bursting with excitement to get my hands on a copy of 'Nightbirds'! Thanks so much!
