Welcome to the Pub Dates newsletter! We’re so glad you’re here.
This newsletter is released as a companion to each podcast episode, and we use it to share the visual elements of our discussion — from mood boards to design sketches, from photos to secret giveaways just for subscribers. And this issue contains a giveaway, so read on!
In episode eight, we talked about our daily routines — how we get in the zone, what our drafting process looks like, and more.
We also invited you to leave us a message with a question you’d like answered — you can do that by clicking here and using SpeakPipe to record a message, or if you’re not into voicemail, you can email us at pubdates@gmail.com or leave a comment. Everyone who asks a question via any method will go into the draw for a swag pack from both our books!
Now, on to the rest of our promised extras! Let’s start with the gorgeous cover of Nightbirds…
Ready to preorder? Yes you are! You can grab it right here — and more international links are coming soon.
And now, the peeks behind the scenes we promised you…
Amie’s office — can you spot everything on the checklist?
✅ Author copies ✅ Maps ✅ Hobbit sign ✅ Tea cups ✅ PhD planning board
✅ Reference books ✅ Dog bed ✅ Star Trek isolinear chip coaster ✅ Candles
✅ Secret project (just kidding, I moved it before I took the pic 😈)
And Kate’s office — enjoy the video tour and the transformation to its current form. You may also notice the one thing our offices have in common — generously sized dog beds.
We also thought you’d like a peek at a day spent working together in Amie’s campervan — we’re not kidding when we say the view is killer. (That pastry was great too.
And finally, a couple of links to other things we mentioned:
Amie’s favourite focus music.
Amie’s podcast episode on dealing with writer’s block.
Amie’s podcast episode on writing when you have no time.
Kate’s podcast, The Exploress.
That’s it for this episode — so here’s one final reminder you can leave us a question by clicking here and using SpeakPipe to record a message, or if you’re not into voicemail, you can email us at pubdates@gmail.com or leave a comment. You’ll go into the draw to win our very first swag pack!
And of course, you can preorder Nightbirds right here…
I love both of your offices! And that cover is absolutely beautiful!! I do have a question for you both. Do you find that if you are writing in one genre, you prefer to read in that same genre, or do you have to go for something different? Like since you're writing fantasy, so do you find yourself nose-diving into other fantasy novels or going something else like a romcom? It's a new thing I've found with my own writing, and it's very strange.
Kate, I love the "Onward" artwork in your office! May I ask where it's from?
