Welcome to the Pub Dates newsletter! We’re so glad you’re here.
This newsletter is released as a companion to each podcast episode, and we use it to share the visual elements of our discussion — from mood boards to design sketches, from photos to secret giveaways just for subscribers. Here’s a hot tip: in next episode’s newsletter there’s going to be something that’s only for subscribers!
In episode twenty, we talked about marketing in all its guises, and the ways in which authors participate in it.
So, in the interests of being vaguely okay at marketing, let’s start off with a few of the links we promised in the episode itself.
First up, our personal newsletters — which have different content to this newsletter.
Kate’s author newsletter:
Amie’s author newsletter:
Amie’s occasional newsletter with her co-author, Meagan Spooner:
We’ll pause while you subscribe — come back when you’re ready!
Oh, and just in case someone forwarded you this email, you can subscribe to this newsletter using this button.
All done? We’ll reward you with a couple of behind the scenes holiday pics! Amie’s holiday trip was spent in the bush, with zero phone reception. As Pip and the other kids threw stones into the river (good for at least an hour’s entertainment a day), the adults reflected that kids have probably been doing this, in this very river, for tens of thousands of years.
Meanwhile, Kate has been on a far more exotic trip. Here’s her dinner view in Mexico. Just awful. HOW DID SHE BEAR IT. (You can probably tell who’s writing this newsletter, and that I am totally and absolutely fine with Kate’s glorious beach adventure. No, really. Love that for her. Zero jealously.)
Now, on to Kate’s other big news! First up, we’ve got her appearances—if you come along to one of these events, make sure you tell Kate you’re a Pub Dates listener!
We’ve also got Kate’s preorder offer — you can click here to get all the details and FAQs, including how to register for your enamel pin.
And if you want a signed and personalised copy of Nightbirds, character cards AND that pin, then you can preorder from One More Page books right here. (And if you’re an Aussie, stand by for future news about Kate’s launch and giveaway plans!)
And that’s it for this issue! We’ll see you next time when, sneak peek, we’ll be talking about how an author chooses which research to use and which to leave behind, through the lens of all the stuff we learned about the 1920s! See you then!
That view is GORGEOUS!!! I so wish I could go to one of your tour stops!! Nevertheless, I've pre-ordered both your books and I CANNOT wait!
I’d be curious to hear how an author sets up a preorder campaign like Kate’s, where you partner with a local bookstore for signed copies! How do you organize this, etc?
